Workshop: Evaluating Learning

Do evaluations in your courses effectively measure student learning? 

In this interactive workshop series with Julie Estis, we will focus on assessing student learning by discovering and applying a variety of evaluation approach, such as:

  • aligning assessments with learning goals,
  • types of assessments (formative vs. summative)
  • rubrics,
  • self-evaluations and peer-evaluations,
  • Transparent Assignment Framework,
  • Classroom Assessment Techniques and Learning Assessment Techniques.

You will have the opportunity to apply what you are learning about assessments and receive feedback.

Facilitator

Julie M. Estis, Ph.D., CCC-SLP is the Covid Response Coordinator at the University of South Alabama. Julie is Director of the TeamUSA Quality Enhancement Plan—a campus-wide initiative focused on using Team-Based Learning (TBL) at the University of South Alabama to improve student learning, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration. Appointed to the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology faculty in 2004, she brings valuable expertise as a teacher, researcher, and faculty leader.

This workshop is designed for faculty members, administrators, and students who want to learn how to give better feedback, evaluate learning, and align their course goals with their course assessment.
