Student´s workshop: Powerful Assessments

How might we help each other learn, lead, and be better?

As students at UFM, you will be required to give and receive assessments (feedback) of each other’s performance in class. The challenge: Giving and receiving assessments is often difficult, even counter-cultural. And yet, giving assessments is a vital part of leading, and receiving assessments is an important ingredient of success.

In this workshop, you’ll learn

+ What makes an assessment powerful

+ How to give and receive assessments

+ You’ll practice with each other to significantly improve your leadership acumen.

Date and time

Thursday, June 3rd

 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Location

Colab, First floor Academic Building.

Facilitator

Ed Perry has been a Master Teacher at the Acton School of Business since 2004.

Ed chooses to lead with quiet strength and a strong commitment to principles. He learned to be a businessman from wise, patient mentors who have guided him through every season of his life.

Ed started his first company, a Singapore-based engineering consulting company, over twenty-five years ago. Since then, he has served as President and CEO of several companies in the oil and gas and technology industries, leading some from imagination to launch to rapid growth to sale and some from turn-around to sale. He served as venture fellow then partner for leading local venture capital firms. He has served as an executive at Apple Computer, British Petroleum, McDermott, and Sapient.

Ed’s professional goal is to foster the success of one million successful, principled entrepreneurs before he dies. He advises and consults into many companies, preferring those founded by Acton scholars. He starts two companies a year to give promising young entrepreneurs a running start.
